# Timelock

Timelock is a special element integrated into a smart contract, enabling the temporary control of specific functions in an application for a set timeframe. 

This component is commonly used in MasterChef contracts. 

Timelocks play a vital role in maintaining strong security by preventing abrupt and unforeseen alterations, which are referred to as rug-pulls.
